Create a special world for your child with unique kids’ supplies

Kids bring abundant joy to the family. Therefore parents try to do special things for their little one now and then. The best that parents can do is to get some unique kids’ supplies and create an entirely different world for their kids with their own hand. There are different kinds of things that are required by the kids for their studies, their art and craft classes as well as for their games. Choosing a good supplies company is very important to provide your kid with the best things that they require.

Study materials, school supplies and desk accessories

These are probably the most important kids’ supplies that any parent will for their children. A good supplies company can provide nice and colorful notebooks, pencils, color books and color pencils, fashionable sharpeners, funny and scented erasers and so on. The list of stationery seems unending and so is the large variety of these things. The study desk of the kid can also be ordered from a supplies company according to the need of your child.

Art and craft accessories

If your child loves arts and crafts, you will need to provide him with the materials for the same. There are various kids’ supplies companies, which manufacture and supply unique and creative art and craft materials. Give your kid some nice crayons and see them color their own imaginations. Give them color papers and glue sticks and other craft materials and you will be amazed to see the beautiful things that they make with the available materials. If your kid is fond of painting, gift him nice water paints and watch him make those beautiful paintings from his imagination.

Host A Kids Crafting Party Very Easy

kids supplies

Looking for a unique theme party ideas for your child’s upcoming birthday? It seems like all the old party themes have been done to death. A clown, a pony, a princess, pin the tail on the donkey, how about something new? A great idea for a party that will get all the kids involved in fun activities is to throw an arts and crafts theme party. It’s really easy and not as expensive as some other party ideas.

The first step is to pick out some crafts for the kids to make. You’ll find tons of ideas on the Internet and even right here in our kids project section. You can also find ideas at http://www.britishlisting.com/arts-and-crafts.html. When picking out projects for your craft party, be sure to keep the kids ages in mind. Some crafts will be more appropriate for younger kids and others for older. For example, building a birdhouse may be a great idea for 14 year olds but not at all appropriate for 5 year olds. Be sure to keep all projects “kid safe” for the age group at your party. Also think about whether you’ll have boys or girls at your party. Girls may not enjoy the same craft projects as boys and vice versa.

One last thing to think about before deciding on a selection of projects is what supplies you’ll need. Chances are, you wont have everything you’ll need on hand, so you’ll need to pick some supplies up at the store. You want to pick out several projects that use the same supplies. Like making clay jewelry, clay figures, or anything else out of clay. That way if none of the kids want to make a project, you won’t be stuck with a lot of left over supplies at the end of the party. Once you know what supplies you’ll need, make a trip t your local craft or hobby store,

On the day of the party, before your guests arrive, get out your craft supplies and set up stations for each project. Also put some written instructions for each project at the stations. Once all your kids have arrived and you’ve let them have some time to socialize, start the crafting. Tell them about the types of craft projects you have for them and let each kid decide what they want to work on. Be sure you have enough adult supervision to keep an eye on the kids and help out when needed.

When all the kids are finished with their projects, set up a mini craft show so they can show off their work. The back yard would be a great place. A great idea would be for all the parents to get there a little early to pick the kids up. That way they can enjoy the craft show and spend a little time getting to know all the other parents. The best part about throwing a craft party is that all the kids get to take something home that they made themselves. Something they can have to remind them of the great time they had at your party.

Help Your Kid at School and Support the Teacher

kids supplies

Are your kids doing poorly with their academic studies? Do you remember much about your classroom experiences? It is tough to be a student and teacher. As a parent, you know all students need adequate parental support but teachers also need support from the parents; furthermore, you can help your kids more by doing what you can to help their teachers. You will learn ways to help your kids excel at school while supporting the teachers.

Let your kid’s teachers know how you feel about them. Praise them and let them realize that you know they are doing the best they can to contribute to your kid’s growth and education. Invite them to parties.

Let others know your kid’s teachers are doing a good job. Tell the administrators. Write letters to the editor. If you have the opportunity, submit a form to help them win a Teacher of the Year nomination and cash bonus.

Directly find out what your kid’s classroom environment is like and show the teachers you care about them and your kid. Attend the “Open House” events.

Become a member of good educational organizations. Join the Parents and Teachers Association. Attend the PTA meetings.

Keep tabs on your kids’ progress and help them learn. Help them comprehend their homework regularly. Do textbook exercises with them and give them questions you can think of. Have your kids organize and keep all their assignments and graded test papers inside a chart book. Review with your kids all the questions they miss on tests and help them find the answers or solutions. If this does not help, call the teacher to get the answers. It is important to do this because your kids might see some of these questions again on a final exam.

Teachers often buy textbooks and other things for students. If you can afford it, donate some money to the teachers and school to help cover the tab. Before the school year starts, make sure your kids get all the supplies they need.

Help your teachers spend less time focusing on discipline. Teach your kids to respect the teachers and behave at school.

Volunteer your time. Spend a day in your kid’s classroom. Help handle the school parties.

Help your kids go the extra mile to get better grades and put themselves into a position to go far in life through what they do at school. If you cannot help your kids master a particular class and the teacher provides after-school tutoring, make your kids attend the sessions. Feed them nutritious meals. Encourage them to regularly engage in aerobic exercise so they will boost their circulation and think better. Encourage them to take up extracurricular activities at school.

You have the power to help your kid succeed at school and support the teachers. Do what you have learned to make it happen!

This package comes with 12 foam sheets in red, blue, black, white, green and yellow. These brilliant and soft sheets can form the basis for many works of art. It also bonds wood, paper, cardboard and plastic, so your kids will find their creativity free to try just about anything. The two ounce bottle will last a while, too, so your kids should be set for the afternoon. Use the glue to affix any of a number of cut-out shapes. The Foamie Craft Foam Basketball Cutout or the Football are great for sports-themed art. There are even Foamie Craft Foam Team Spirit Shapes that include various tiny T-shirts, numerals and letters.

Have your kids put together pictures of themselves or each other, using 10MM Paste On Neon Googly Eyes for fun. These can be affixed to foam, fabric or other materials. Keep a package of 7mm Googly Eyes on hand, too, for the larger works of art. You’ll be amazed at the silly — and creative — images your kids can design. Monsters are a natural for a rainy day, but your kids will undoubtedly make them funny monsters with these googly eyes.

Buttons are another fun craft item, so be sure to keep plenty of them in your craft supplies collection. There are small buttons like the Assorted Mini Natural Buttons. These come in assorted natural colors like cream, beige, brown and red clay. They can be used in all sorts of craft projects, from pictures to doll making. You’ll be delighted at the creations that spring from the minds of your children when you add a touch of glue and glitter and set them loose at the kitchen table.

And speaking of glitter, there aren’t many projects that wouldn’t benefit from a little added glitz. There are plenty of ways to purchase craft glitter, too. You might want a lot of it, so choose the Big Value Crystal Glitter Jar. This acetate crystal glitter comes in iridescent, red, silver and plenty of other colors. Or choose a smaller ¾ ounce Red Sparkle Craft Glitter, Crystal White Sparkle Craft  Glitter, or Silver Sparkle Craft Glitter. Choose the size container you need based on the size of your kids’ hands or their ability to control how much they sprinkle. You’ll find almost every color in each type of glitter.

Your kids might like to use Sparkle Glitter Glue, too. This handy product will allow them to apply the glitter without adding extra glue. It’s great for embellishing any project and is not messy like other glues can be. There are also Deco Art Glitter Paint products in a variety of colors. Christmas Green and Twinkles Crystal are just a couple that you might like to keep on hand. Use these with paint brushes to add just the right amount of glitter to any project.

Styrofoam, sequins, pom poms…there are so many craft supplies available today that you might need more than one rainy day for your children to expend all the creativity building inside them. So order a wide variety — after all, no two kids are alike in their creative desires. Then when those rainy days rumble around, pull out your craft supplies and give them free rein to dream up whatever art they want.

Buying School Supplies for Kids – The Annual Mega-Chore

kids supplies

Although we know it comes around every year, shopping for school supplies can still be one of the most onerous chores we do. Each time we go and buy school supplies it’s almost like starting completely over each time we do it because all of the supplies we bought the year before are either used up or worn out. The best way we can make sure we get everything that’s needed is to make a checklist and hang onto it for next year, that way you know you’ve covered all the bases when it comes to having all the kids need for school.

Here’s a list of stuff your kids will definitely need throughout the school year:
1-Pencils and pens are probably the most important things they’ll use throughout the year. Having them personalized means they’ll be able to hang on to them easier since other kids will be less likely to swipe them.
2-A three ring zippered notebook is incredibly handy since it not only holds notebook paper, but being zippered means that whatever gets put in there won’t fall out.
3-Of course, notebook paper will definitely be needed and having it as one of the top things to buy on your school supplies list is important.
4-Composition books are great for notes and if you get the ones with the laser cut edge, kids can turn work done in the composition book in to the teacher. Many teachers won’t accept work done with the ragged edges from a regular composition book.
5-One of the best things to have on your school supplies list is a good backpack with plenty of pockets. Backpacks takes a lot of headache and hassle out of a kid’s day since it gives them the ability to carry all the books they need as well as extra paper, pens and pencils so they’ll always have what they need on hand.

Lunch bags are definitely important if you’re going to be sending lunch with you r children. Having a good one will keep cool things cool and warm things warm and will usually keep things from getting squished. You may not consider it as important on your school supplies list, but if you’re packing lunches, you’ll appreciate it as will the kids.

Pencil bags and boxes help keep your child organized and prevent them from accidentally breaking pencils and even from getting hurt by reaching into a backpack and getting stuck by a badly placed pencil.

There may be other school supplies needs your child will have based on their curriculum but this will serve as a good basic list to start with. By ensuring your kids have everything they need for school, you’ll ensure they’ve got the tools on hand to enable them to learn everything the teachers are trying to teach.

Easy Christmas Crafts for Kids

kids supplies

Bring the spirit of Christmas into your home with these Christmas kids crafts.  Spend time with your family creating Christmas crafts and decorations.  The following Christmas craft ideas are suitable for the whole family to enjoy.

Cotton Ball Christmas Tree (an easy pre-school Christmas craft)

Craft Supplies:

Green construction paper
Cotton balls
Glue
Silver or green glitter
Christmas wrapping paper or Christmas stickers

1. Roll up each piece of green construction paper into a cone shape and either glue or staple.
2. Trim the bottom of the cone, so it will stand up.
3. Have the children glue cotton balls all over the cone Christmas trees.
4. Cut out Christmas ornaments from wrapping paper and glue onto the trees.  You can also use Christmas stickers as ornaments.
5. Place the tree into a shallow box and sprinkle with silver or green glitter.  Cover the box and shake it to cover the Christmas tree.

Sheep Christmas Ornaments (kindergarten Christmas craft or older)

Craft Supplies:

White or cream colored yarn
About 3” X 4” rectangle of cardboard
Scissors
Black felt or craft foam
Glue
Small gold bell (optional)
Black pipe cleaner
Red ribbon or yarn
Embroidery needle

1. To make the sheep’s body, wrap the yarn around the piece of cardboard lengthwise,  until it is completely covered.  The more yarn you use, the fluffier the sheep will be.
2. When you are all finished wrapping the yarn, carefully slip it off the cardboard gathering all the loops together.
3. With the other hand, tie a piece of yarn tightly around the center.  (It will look like an hourglass).  You can also use an elastic for this, but I found that yarn was easier.
4. With the scissors, cut the loops to make the sheep’s coat.  Sheer the sheep into a nice even shape.
5. Cut a face shape out of the black felt and glue onto the body of the sheep.  Cut a pipe cleaner in half and thread the two pieces through the middle of the sheep’s body, so they stick down to form the legs.
6. Cut an 8” piece of ribbon or yarn for a hanger and thread it onto the embroidery needle.  Draw the ribbon up through the center of the sheep and tie a knot.

Santa’s Reindeer Food

Craft Supplies:

Brown lunch bag
Oatmeal or sunflower seeds
Brown construction paper
Red pom-pom
Wiggly eyes (can also cut out eyes from construction paper)

1. Open the paper bag and add oatmeal, or sunflower seeds
2. Fold the corners at the top of the bag into a V shape.
3. Fold the top down to make the head.
4. Cut out a set of antlers and glue to the head.
5. Add eyes and a pom-pom nose.

Make a label for the back of the bag that reads:

Keep this bag until Christmas Eve.
Open the bag before you go to bed and sprinkle the reindeer food on the lawn.
Tuck yourself into bed.
Go to sleep and wait for Santa.

The birds and night animals will eat the Reindeer Food and the kids will think Santa’s reindeer at it.

Hope you have fun with these fun Christmas ideas.  Happy Holidays!

Kids Home Alone – Emergency to Go Kit

kids supplies

Kids home alone for the summer. Prepare for the unexpected. Hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, earthquakes, flooding, fires caused by humans – how do parents equip their children?  When the disaster occurs, it’s too late to make an emergency plan. Many families live a distance from extended families. Some families are new in town, and have not joined a church or met the neighbors. In this economy, some families are completely mobile, sleeping in a different place every night.  The Emergency to Go Kit supplies are a suggestion.

Whether you live out of a suitcase or house, keep one bag as a grab and go. Every person in the family should know where it’s located, particularly the kids home alone. Start with the family communication plan. Get a cell phone – disposable, pay as you go, and SafeLink Wireless a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers.

To see if you qualify go to: www.safelinkwireless.com. Add phone numbers of local and out of state contacts to speed dial on the phone. Add paper and pen/pencil to the communication list.

Other communication needs include where your family will meet in your town/city.  Place a written list of out of town friends and relatives, including phone numbers and addresses. Kids should carry their photo identification with them at all times. At least one emergency number should be carried by your children.

In the Emergency to Go Kit, this could be a shoulder bag, knapsack, backpack, tote, or duffle bag, goes the phone, cash, non-refrigerated food, pet food, manual can opener, paper/plastic plates, cups, and utensils. Add flashlight, battery-operated radio and extra batteries.  Most important items are first aid kit, soap, hand sanitizer, oral care, toilet paper/disposable wipes, and change of clothes, medication, and reading glasses (if needed).

This list should be customized for your family needs, for example if there’s a diabetic in the family, you’ll need testing supplies. If the bag is heavy, consider getting one on wheels that the kids can pull and not have to carry.  Go over the containers of the Emergency to Go Kit with your family. They may have a special book or game and dog toy to include. (http://emergency.cdc.gov/preparedness/kit/disasters/)
